Born Ron Killings on January 19, 1972, R-Truth grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina.

At an early age, he developed a passion for hip-hop and breakdancing and attended high school at Harding University High School, where he excelled in both football and track and field. Despite receiving college scholarships, Killings opted to pursue a music career, immersing himself in the city's vibrant hip-hop scene.
